The Science Behind Lumenis ResurFX
The ResurFX laser is a non-ablative laser, meaning it stimulates the skin to develop collagen without harming surrounding tissue. The rise in temperature stimulates neocollagenesis — a process where the body produces new collagen. Collagen is the fibrous protein responsible for giving skin its elasticity and suppleness.
By increasing collagen production, the skin regains a more youthful appearance, improving the look of lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, scars, and stretch marks.
ResurFX is also a fractional laser, meaning the laser light delivered to the skin is divided into microcolumns. Unlike other fractional devices, ResurFX requires only one pass over the skin to produce effective results, reducing discomfort.
The device allows for highly customisable treatments — we can adjust the laser beam shape, size, density, and energy strength to suit your precise needs. This treatment can also be combined with IPL for enhanced results.

After Your ResurFX Treatment
- Redness is normal for 3–5 days.
- Mild swelling may occur.
- Skin can feel warm and tight for the rest of the day.
- Dryness and light shedding is normal in the days following treatment.
We will provide you with a healing cream to rehydrate and soothe the skin post-treatment.
Preparing for Treatment
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for five weeks prior to treatment (essential to prevent permanent skin discolouration).
- Discontinue use of retinol products five days before your appointment.
During the Treatment
- We begin with a deep cleanse using hot towels.
- Numbing cream can be applied for comfort if needed.
- The treatment area is addressed using the ResurFX device.
- We finish with a cold compress and Dermalux LED white light to reduce downtime and cool the skin.
- Aftercare and healing cream are provided.
Treatments are spaced four weeks apart.
Treatment Course
